This small town of 1,400 people, in south-central Missouri about 35 miles east of Springfield, was once home to Laura Ingalls Wilder. Wilder wrote her popular \”Little House\” books after she and her family moved from the Dakota Territory to Mansfield in 1894. The family home is preserved with its original furnishings. The on-site museum has family pictures, articles about the books, and assorted memorabilia. Springfield Regional Airport services the area.
