"Do not go to Bass River Resort!!!! This place is infested with Horse Flies and the owner is a real SOB. They are everywhere and they attack people. They bite and leave huge welts all over your body. If you care about your kids don't come here. SERIOUSLY! The owner knows about them but plays dumb and doesnt warn anyone because all he cares about is making money and not about his customers! This guy is a real jerk so don't waste your money here. Here's my story. Camped at Bass River for 3 horrible days. The first day we fished and played in the water and got attacked multiple times throughout the day. We assumed since they had alot of horses there onsite this was the reason for all the horse flies. So day two we decided to take a nice 7 mile float. HUGE MISTAKE!!! First we waited for 45 minutes for someone to get us a raft. No one around. I had to flag down a bus driver to get us a raft. By the way the workers here are very nice just not the owner. The first 2 miles not too bad as we floated by camp with the usual amount of attacks. Again I assumed the horses were near by. My daughter and wife wanted to get off but I said it would be fine as we got further away from camp. HUGE MISTAKE!! As we got further down the river the horse flies were everywhere. They were relentless in the attacks. Landing and buzzing and biting all of us the next 5 miles constantly. We could not be in the raft or on foot. We had to hide under the raft or be submerged under water to be safe. For most of the float this was not possible due to the extremely low water level. Another thing they happen to leave out when purchasing a float trip with this place. So basically we were stuck for 5 miles walking and getting bit by big nasty horse flies. It was so bad both of my teenage kids plus my wife were crying and at some points screaming for HELP! There is no help you are on your own. I gave my shirt to my daughter who covered up her entire body and head with clothes and crawled into a ball in the raft to try and calm her down. This left me exposed. I received about 65 bites all over my body. My wife and kids are loaded with them as well. It was extremely traumatizing to the whole family and we will never float ever again. After my daughter having 2 anxiety attacks and my wifes bloody nose from stress we made it to the end. THANK GOD!! I decided to have a talk with the owner and deserved my money back for this nightmare. I went inside and explained to him this whole story and his first response was a chuckle and said " I cant give you your money back for a few bug bites". We showed him all of the bites and his response was he had a million dollar mortgage to pay and it wasnt his problem. I said you should warn people especially with children about the infestation when floating. So he said he was going to go talk to Julie (guess this is his wife) about my refund. He went outside and never came back. My son and I found him outside doing nothing but ignoring us. So I went out there and asked him again about my refund. He refused so I told him we will never camp here again. Thats when he got really pissed and jumped up in my face and screaming and yelling and cussing at me and my son. Threatened to kick us out right then at 9 P.M. at night. This guy is about 6' 4" and weighs about 375lbs. I got concerned about mine and my son's safety with the out of control behavior he was showing so we walked away and said thank you and drove back to camp. As we drove off he was still screaming and cussing the whole time. What a psycho!!! We packed up early the next morning and tried to warn everyone before leaving about the float. One lady had already paid and they would not let her get her money back. Bass River Resort only cares about making money and could give a sh%t about their customers or their safety. Trust me go anywhere but here."
