Nice if you have time

"My husband and 2 small children and I stayed at the Grand for a special weekend. The lobby and rooms were impeccable. The hotel is very close to everything (Busch Stadium, the Landing, Jones Dome, Conference Centers, etc) downtown so you don’t have to mess with downtown St. Louis traffic. However, there were a few things that caused us some slight inconveniences. Prior to our arrival, I had called to check on infant beds and they didn’t have a reservation for us. Once they made a reservation they had us in the wrong kind of room. Now through this the front desk manager was very kind and very willing to make things right. She also said that she would have 2 infant beds in our room when we arrived so that our children could go right to bed since we were arriving late in the evening. We arrived to find this spectacular room with no infant beds. If you have ever traveled with tired infants, this immediately took away from the room decor and glamor. We called and finally, 1 hour later, the beds arrived. We also waited for about 1.5 hours for linens for the roll away bed for a guest. Needless to say, we were exhausted by the time we finally turned out the lights. The breakfast was very good, wide variety but very over priced, but that is price you pay for convenience. Overall, we had a great experience at the Renaissance Grand, it is just hard to see past all the waiting."

A fancy 4th of July

"Though my wife lived her whole life in the St. Louis area she never got to enjoy Independence Day fireworks at the Arch so we decided to give it a try in 2006. To avoid problems with downtown traffic and parking we decided to stay in a hotel close to the river front. Though the accommodations were excellent the festivities were less than we expected. The original VP Fair has been replaced by the St. Louis Fair and the new promoters don’t quite have all the details worked out yet. This 2+ year old hotel is modern without losing the look and feel of an older classic hotel. With many choices for in house dining, we were able to eat most of our meals right inside the hotel. While exploring the hotel, we were greeted by one of the staff who made some time to show us around. Though it was closed, he took us up the ballroom on the top floor so we could get some pictures. This is just one example of how courteous and helpful the staff of the Renaissance Grand was."
