The Sheraton St Louis City Center Hotel is one of the newest hotels in the city and the Greek-style mural on the exterior of the 13-story building (once a shoe warehouse) is one of the most impressive sights for people driving by on the interstate. Taking up a block bordered by 13th and 14th streets, the hotel is a hockey puck shot away from where the Blues face off and is next to a MetroLink station. Amenities are Sheraton standard, with the highlights being a nearly Olympic-sized indoor pool, deck, whirlpool, and well-equipped gym on the top floor. Guests can dress up or down at happy hour, choosing the elegant lobby lounge or the rowdy sports bar serving wings and burgers. The rooms feature oversized desks and spacious sitting areas. Dark woods lend a serious air and furnishings are Sheraton-standard, down to the same textured wallpaper and botanical prints seen throughout the whole chain. The heavy windows do a good job of blocking out noise from the nearby highway and some have a view of the impressive Union Station building—now a Hyatt. If the all-suite 8th floor is not full, twenty bucks or even a nice smile can land an upgrade to a large suite. Half the floor is dedicated to club level guests, who score breakfast and snacks but no complimentary cocktails.
