Summary of Gateway Arch
Gateway Arch

Sure, the underground visitor center is impressive and comprehensive, but you’re not visiting the Gateway Arch to spend time in a visitor center. A cramped tram ride stands between you and that famous view . Trams run every ten minutes, but allow extra time in your visit for passing through the strict security process; once that’s over, you can gaze at St. Louis from the best seat in the city. From more than 60 stories up, you can point out barges and riverboats, try to find your hotel in the city’s skyline, and – most disconcertingly – feel the zenith shift ever so slightly in a gust of wind. The Arch also offers a riverboat cruise and café, a museum and gift store inside the visitor center, movies shown on a giant screen, and a beautiful open park around the structure. It’s within walking distance to several hotels, restaurants, and notable attractions in downtown St. Louis. Vacationing families make up the largest portion of the Gateway Arch’s visitors, but the appeal of this unusual monument is universal.
