Lucky 13 is a gritty old place in the middle of the Castro on Market Street. Dark and dingy, with a laid-back, funky vibe. It reminds me of a place where leather-clad people throw chairs and hurt themselves for fun. It has kind of a retro feel, I guess, with a nice mix of glowing “black light” paintings on various walls. The place is known for its awesome jukebox — a near-perfect mix of old ballads, ‘80s glam rock, and some ‘90s alt rock, garage rock, you name it. There’s nothing like good music with friends, and knocking back a tequila shot followed by a can of PBR. Yep, they have PBR on tap, brother. But if you want to be all fancy about your beer, they have a huge selection to choose from. Overall a cool vibe; smells kind of like a dirty sock, though.
