Las Vegas

All Glitz
"For gamblers and night owls, this place is perfect, but there are other attractions and ways to enjoy Vegas without gambling or spending any time on the Strip if you prefer. Most of the best places to stay are on Las Vegas Blvd....Bellagio, Paris, MGM Grand, Venetian, Aladdin, Caesars, and so on. However, there is an off-shoot of the strip now where other resorts are being built like the Rio. You can't really lose if you choose a big resort to stay in because each resort has shopping, shows, restaurants and some free attractions too. To do it more cheaply, stay off the strip and cab it or take a shuttle to the strip. Also to save money, you can rent a condo or stay at an extended stay such as Emerald Suites with kitchens so you can eat some meals in. The resorts have a variety of restaurants with different price levels to choose from. Also, if you have the flexibility, stay during the week and skip the weekend as rooms are almost twice as much on the weekends. To get away from the Strip and see some sites, head to Red Rocks Canyon on the extreme west side of Las Vegas in the foothills. This area provides a very easy hike and some beautiful natural views. It's free. Also, if you rent a car or take a tour, head to the Hoover Dam. Guided tours are available to Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon also. If driving from resort to resort stresses you out, use the valet parking. For a nominal tip, you can avoid the hassle of parking your car. During busy times, give yourself enough time to get the car back if you've got plans and have to be somewhere quickly. It does not usually take more than 15 minutes and usually is much less. Some shows to consider are any of the Cirque Du Soleil shows or Blue Man Group. Of course there is always Wayne Newton and some quintessential Las Vegas shows at Ballys, Flamingo, etc., and perhaps you might look into the Fremont Street Experience (free I think). Take a ride to the top of the Stratosphere for phenomenal views of the city and beyond (fee involved.) Most hotel rooms come with an entertainment magazine that lists all current shows at all of the resorts as well as info on numerous other attractions, restaurants, clubs, etc. Other items of interest could be Madam Tousseault's Wax Museum, Liberace Museum, Guggenheim-Hermitage Art Museum....so much to do, so little time!

Las Vegas

Viva Las Vegas
"Just like Elvis once sang about Vegas, it is the place to be for adults. They tried to revamp the image to turn it into a family orientated city, but lets face it, this is where adults come to play. With plenty of multi-million or billion dollar hotel/casinos, lots and lots of restaurants, shopping, spas, and even thrill-seeker attractions. Las Vegas is one of the fastest growing and unique cities in America.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas

The city that never sleeps...
"This is the city that never sleeps. You can be up all night gambling, or just seeing the sights, and you get so excited from it all, that you lose track of time so easily. You can go see some cool bands for free. You can find a mini Mcdonalds at your hotel or a nearby hotel and get som budget food. Other budget food can be found at most of the buffets, where they givew you a fixed price for a whole lot of food. I do remember my hotel being expensive, but the food here was not, and even the shows that I picked and the Gondola ride at the Venetian only cost an average of $20.00 per venue as apposed to $100.00 in other states. You really can come here, and find some deals. Just keep your eyes, ears, and minds open, and anything is possible here. When you get here they also talk about people meeting from all over and falling in love out here. It didn’t happen to me, but still anything is possible if you believe in it enough.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas

It really is DisneyWorld for adults
"Yes, it really is DisneyWorld for adults. Except that, if you’re careful, it’s possible to have a relatively cheap vacation in Las Vegas. I have yet to meet anybody who left the Magic Kingdom saying “wow, that cost so much less than I expected!” In Las Vegas, it’s possible to find a marguerita for a dollar, a shrimp cocktail or a foot-long, half-pound hot dog for ninety-nine cents, and a hotel room for as little as $36 a night. Those whose tastes (and means) run in the other direction can find the world’s most extensive wine cellar, exotic gourmet dining, and a hotel suite big enough to deserve its own zip code. For those in between these extremes, the choices available are dizzying. If you don’t care to spend all of your entertainment dollars on gambling, the activities available are equally wide-ranging. You’ll find roller coasters, rock climbing, movies, art exhibits, bowling alleys, tours of the nearby Grand Canyon, concerts, plays, magicians, museums, sky-diving (both outdoor and indoor,) video arcades, the “Star Trek Experience,” more shopping choices than you probably knew existed… and so on. The only thing it’s hard to find in Vegas is enough time to sleep.
