The Excalibur feels like a casino that Disney might design; in fact, the design and color may remind you of Walt Disney’s film Sleeping Beauty, modeled after high gothic architecture with the rich primary colors popular with medieval nobles. Regal and magical, and a little whimsical, the Excalibur combines the fine art of catering to the kids with making sure the parents are happy, too. The castle’s sweeping interiors are exclusively Arthurian, with every medieval touch you can imagine, from swords and shields to stained glass windows. Roofs are finished with arching, cathedral-ceiling details, and medieval banners hang from the rafters. Windows feature pointed gothic tops, and from the outside, the sweeping expanse of turrets and towers create a sense of grandeur in even casual onlookers. Medieval splendor follows you into the guest rooms, where a miniature coat of arms crowns each headboard. Royal reds and rich blues predominate, with ornate window treatments and chandelier lighting completing the scene.

On the main stage you can catch the Tournament of Kings, a sensorially orgiastic affair designed by Emmy award-winning designer Michel Fresnay that offers gladiator fights and bacchanalian feasts. In a nice, non-Arthurian touch, the Excalibur is home to the city’s second all-male dance revue, “Thunder From Down Under.” Double entendres aside, this show involves a great deal of body oil and more romance novel ingredients than Johanna Lindsay would know what to do with. For a more family-friendly evening, the Court Jester’s Stage offers magicians and puppeteers in shows geared toward children. If you are with picky pre-teens, send them down to the lower level where they’ll find Fantasy Faire Midway, a child’s playground filled with carnival games and a video arcade.

A good budget hotel on the strip

Reviewed by Marck on June 25, 2008

"If you're looking for a good budget hotel on the strip that is nice, this is the place. They are still remodeling the rooms, but the flat screen rooms are spacious. If you do get one, get on on the lower level floors, as they tend to be bigger than the upper level floors. The crowd here is mix, young and old. The pool was nice and crowded when I went. Lot's of sun worshipers. "

Excalibur

"I never stayed in a room in Excaliber so this review isn’t about that. The casino is big and adequate, they have a huge arcade area for children as well. The only thing is that to me, it seemed kind of…. cheesey? I’d prefer staying and gambling at one of the other casinos."

This place is so amazing!

"From the gambling, the morning buffet, and then the knights at the roubtable dinner, this place is enough fun to keep you on your toes. I remember coming here for gambling where they have the video slots, and fun themes. The game I played had a western theme to it, and it was so adorable. Next we sashayed over to an incredible buffeet breakfast which i was really in the mood for. My other friend went to the Knights of the ROundtable dinner. She came back telling us there were real knights in costume and ladies looking like maid marion. he said you can throw food at the knights you don’t like, and it becomes a food fight of sorts. The tables are packed high of food. Sonce this is a pure adventure within a dinner, there is a slight worth it. Imagine being able to throw an apple at a knight on a horse, very silly thought to me. if you like whimsy like I do, then you will like this place. Also, the people that stayed there said they’d definately be back, so I’d say it’s a good place to stay, as a recommendation from my friends to yours."

Worth the stay!!

"I had such fun at this hotel!! I love the medieval period and this was all I thought it would be. There are people walking around in FULL costume. The rooms remind you of what you think a castle would look like in modern day. Wallpaper to look like rough cut stone. Quite chic. I was only here for 2 nights but when I go back to Vegas I will definatly book here again."

Excalibur - Now this is kitsch. One of the largest resort hotels in the world, Excalibur (aka "the Realm") is a gleaming white, turreted castle complete with moat, drawbridge, battlements, and lofty towers. And it's huger than huge.
