Monte Carlo is a name that stands for glamour and sophistication on both sides of the pond. But our Monte Carlo has one thing theirs doesn’t – Lance Burton. The Grimaldi family probably isn’t looking over its collective shoulder yet, but both Monte Carlos attract crowds in droves. Rising behind a grand colonnade is the hotel’s ivory tower, filled with crystal chandeliers, European statuary, and ornate fountains. The tower is modeled after Monaco’s Place du Casino, and the gas-lit promenades effectively create an Old World atmosphere. Inside, luxe touches like cherry wood and Italian marble brighten the ivory and taupe color scheme.

Master magician Lance Burton performs exclusively here in a $27 million mega-theater named for him, in a show that is highly recommended for all ages. Another great magic trick? You don’t have to walk through the casino to get to your room here. The rooms themselves are tasteful, with cherry wood furnishings and marble and granite accents. The real show at the Monte Carlo is an evening at Andre’s. Rated the number one restaurant in Vegas by Zagat, Andre’s offers the perfect ambiance for romance. With rich, warm-toned woods, fireplace, and art worthy of a chateau on the walls, you’ll feel more like you’re in the Loire Valley than Las Vegas. The main dining room seats only 50 guests, for a more intimate feeling. Entrees are rich and delicious, served on Versace china. Try the marinated Cervena venison loin with pomegranate syrup and roasted chestnuts, or the hazelnut-encrusted duck. After your meal, you can have cigars and cognac in true French style in the Louis XVI room

Solid Place to Stay in Vegas

Reviewed by DalinaC on March 15, 2007

DalinaC's rating:

"I've only been to Vegas once, so I can't necessarily compare to other hotels, but the Monte Carlo seems to be a pretty solid place to stay. It's nice, clean, and friendly; the casino seemed standard for any place on the strip. It might not be as fancy or as large as other ones, but we enjoyed it just as much. The room rates were definitely very reasonable when we went (early June). My friends and I spent a good few hours at the pool, wave pool, and lazy river and had a grand old time. I would definitely stay there again on my next trip."

Monte Carlo

Reviewed by dgdarien on February 02, 2007

dgdarien's rating:

"The Monte Carlo is a nice hotel, it may not be super nice as say The Venetian but it shouldn’t disappoint. I don’t remember any crazy parties here either such as say, the Palms or somewhere. But the rooms were nice and clean, the casino was adequate. To sum it all up, its what you should expect from a big casino in Vegas."

A warm and cozy place...

Reviewed by sassylaurie on December 28, 2006

sassylaurie's rating:

"Out of all the hotels I gambled in when I made my trip last year, this was the one I actually stayed at with friends and slept in. When you walk in, the first thing you see is the wondrous chandelier looking down at you from above. The beds are really elegant, comfortable, and you get a nice night’s rest. Room service is really expedient, and when you come back from a day of shoppingor gambling, you room is much more immaculate than when you left it. The rooms look just like this now. Ian does a good job of giving us an honest peek nto what hotel bedrooms are like in many different places. How he gets to all these places makes me wonder. Does he have a magic carpet? Anyways, if you want to stay in a timeless hotel with a little bit of old workld style, then you have come to the right place. They even decorated the outside nicely for October in the time I was there, and I happen to have kept a picture if it shows up."

Gotta do the concierge floor

Reviewed by BrendanMB on November 28, 2006

BrendanMB's rating:

"The Monte Carlo isn’t the nicest place on the strip, but it’s definitely not bad and well worth the price. The pool area is great with a lazy river thing and stuff to do for the kids. If you’re on a budget, the concierge floor is the way to go. It’s not that much more, and you get food galore (free breakfast, lunch and appetizers) and free booze for part of the day. WELL worth it.
