Construction on the Venetian heralded a new era of grandeur in Las Vegas. Offering suites that are luxurious enough for bluebloods and oil sheiks alike, the Venetian is a study in alchemy. Billions of dollars have transformed this hotel into a replica of the Grand Canal (complete with gondoliers), St. Mark’s Square and the Campanile. You are surrounded by ceiling frescoes, white tile and marble as soon as you step into the lobby. The Renaissance opulence extends to the guest suites as well, which are a good deal larger than most in town. Your bed is crowned with drapery, your shower is glassed-in and separate from your tub, and all suites have a separate sunken living area. If you fork out a few extra dollars for the Venezia Tower, you can add flat-panel TVs to the list of amenities. In terms of entertainment, the Venetian satisfies. See Blue Man Group demonstrate their visual creativity and musical ingenuity in a theater built just for them. (Word to the wise: If you don’t want to get wet, sit a few rows back.) As part of every show, the Blue Men come through the audience, so you may be tapped for some impromptu action. The rest of the show involves various foods, household items, and a lot of industrial PVC plastic. There is no overarching theme or storyline, but with wordless action, these guys can make you smile and feel good (even if you lost at the poker tables).

Great, With one exception

"We just returned from a wonderful visit to the Venetian. The room was very comfortable and the bed was soft. I wish they had a choice of pillows, like some hotels, but that is just one of my little quirks and not as important to most people. We had delicious room service in the morning, and trying to pick from the long list of award winning restaurants was the most difficult part of the day. The pool was very relaxing and we enjoyed walking around the shops and the wax museum. Our experience was tainted by one problem. We walked out of our room to find poop in the hall. I realize it is not the hotel's fault if some jerk lets their dog do its business in the hall, but we called the front desk and it took almost an hour and a half for someone to come and clean it up. When they did clean it they missed some. We spent the day cautiously walking up and down the hall not wanting to step in poo. It was not the level of care I expect at a four star hotel."

"The Venetian’s rooms are amazing. They feel so posh to what I’m used to and the amenities in the room are excellent. The standard room features 2 double beds, a seperate living room area with its own couch, coffee table, and TV. The bathrooms are huge and have a make-up bench/mirror for women. The toilet is in a seperate room than the shower, so someone can shower while the other one is on the toilet. Nice!"

The Venetian

Reviewed by folashade on January 11, 2007

folashade's rating:

"These are some of the largest and most lavish standard rooms on the Strip. When you reserve a room at the Venetian/Venezia you don’t receive simply a room. All of the rooms at the Venetian are suites with a bedroom and sunken living room. The two living spaces are separated by 2 small steps and a rail. The living area contains a desk, tv, sofa bed and two comfy chairs. There is also a small table with two chairs for dining. The Venetian added several amenities I was happy to see when I checked in. One the mini-bars are back in the room. They also have installed high speed internet access in all of the rooms and fax/printer machines which is great when traveling for business. In the bedroom section of the room you have a choice of either 2 queen beds or a king bed draped with a canopy against the wall. At the foot of each bed is an upholstered bench. There is also an armoire which contains a second tv and an in room safe large enough to hold a laptop. The bathroom is all done in cream marble with a tub and separate shower stall. The sink is a large double sink with plenty of lighting. There is also a separate vanity with a makeup mirror. The toilet is in a separate room and also has a phone. I am very impressed with the security measures they have in place to ensure that only guests have access to the guest rooms. Unless you have a room key you cannot access the floors since you have to show them to a security guard in order to access the elevator bank The only slight pet peeve is if you need complete darkness to sleep then you will need to place a towel over the nightlight on the side of the steps that was put there to prevent guests from stumbling on the stairs. The hotel also has a wide range of restaurants on the premises that address a wide variety of budgets and tastes. They have over seventeen restaurants in addition to several food courts bars and a nightclub. Even if you never stay at this hotel you have to visit simply to stroll the canals and take a gondola ride and be serenaded as you float under the man made bridges and past the shops and restaurants within the Grand Canal. Depending on the time of day be prepared to wait in long lines and try to ignore the stares at you from the sidelines as you float by. The wait times for check in are a bit excessive but if you have stayed several times when you call for a reservation they will tell you to proceed to the invited guest line which is much shorter. Or you can book the Venizia tower which has a separate checkin. Also, if you have rented a car it is better to self park as Valet Parking can be a long wait especially when sitting in the hot sun. At least if you have to wait 20 minutes in the hot sun for your car they have staff walking around to offer small bottles of water which is a very nice touch"

This place is a big WOW!

Reviewed by sassylaurie on December 28, 2006

"Okay, you have the small places and things you say wow to, but this is of a bigger magnitude. From the specilized ceiling, frescos, upscale shops, the godola rides, and all around nice scenery, this place has it. I went inside and saw the brillant white tile floor, and the awesome ceilings. Hopefully I pulled the right pic to send to gusto. I have this really pretty pic of a ceiling from my time in Las Vegas, and I forgot to mark one. I did some gambling here, some sightseeeing, shop gazing, and gondola riding. Other people did spa sessions, pool side chats, and yes they really do have all these things here. It is truly a definate must see in Vegas, and I do not say that about every place I went here."

"I have absolutely no complaints from my stay there. The suites are pristine with to-die-for bathrooms. You feel like a princess. The pools are quiet and relaxing. The spa is also worth seeing and has a nice little shop inside with products. They leave full dark chocolate bars on your pillow every night that are very tasty."

Love the Venetian~

"We’ve stayed at the Venetan and the Venezia Towers on 3 occasions. The hotel is all-suites, which are comfortable; the bathrooms are huge and a girl’s dream! Check out the Grand Canal Shops, which are very nice. There is also a Sephora on property. Lots of restaurant choices; you won’t go hungry here! Expensive but worth it."
