Encompassing Fremont Street in the center of downtown Las Vegas is a light and musical show like none other in the world. A permanent canopy has been constructed to cover the casino-lined street with two million lights and a state-of-the-art sound system. This USD70 million attraction provides shows in the evening hours and is a popular area for filming motion picture scenes. There is no charge for entrance except on New Years Eve. The special shows projected on the canopy ceiling last for approximately seven minutes.

Downtown!

"The Freemont Street Experience is when at night they have a show on this artificial electronic ceiling thing. I think its each hour, but I could be wrong. But it is a fun experience when you’re walking from casino to casino and then the lights darken and the show starts. Theres always some kind of music playing and the ceiling will show all kinds of different lights, videos, and graphics. Perfect on one of those warm Vegas nights."

Old Vegas at it's best

"Fremont St is not to be missed. Make sure you see the light show overhead. A lot of the smaller casinos along the street have a fun party atmosphere. Hawaii transplant store ABC was fun. Street has lots of old Vegas charm."

A Vegas "must see."

"Great vintage neon, plus the light show canopy, it’s gorgeous. The downtown casinos have the loosest slots (in my experience) but can be horribly crowded, especially on weekends. You’ll be handed free mardi gras beads just for entering a couple of the smaller casinos. The Golden Gate still features their famous “99 cent shrimp cocktail.” If you walk down to the Plaza and turn right, you’ll pass by Buffalo Bill’s private railway cars, lit up at night so you can peer into the windows. Oh, and when you get tired of everything else, there’s a little mall at one end of the street, where you can take in a movie or go bowling."
