Unexpectedly visceral experience

ohsostrange's rating:

"Yeah, it costs too much. But you’ll love it anyway. When you first enter, you’re given a ticket with the name of an actual Titanic passenger, and at the end of the experience you can look up the name and find out if he or she lived or died. In between, you’ll walk through recreated corridors of the ship, peering into both a first-class cabin, and a dormitory-style third-class one. This experience is complete with sound effects, so you can hear the engine thrumming the way the people in third class did while they were trying to sleep. You’ll walk across a recreation of the promenade deck, chilled so you’ll get the feeling of being on deck that night. Plus, a recreation of the Grand Staircase. (You’re not allowed to walk on this, just look.) There are exhibits taking you through each phase of construction of the ship, and what daily life was like aboard it, and exactly what happened on the night it went down. They even have a chunk of “iceberg” chilled to the temperature of the water that the passengers were immersed in. You’re encouraged to place your hand on this and see just how long you can bear to hold it there. One of my favorite things in all of Vegas. Catch it while you can, it won’t be there forever."
