"Vegas nightspots range from tawdry to ultra-glamorous, and I enjoy the happy medium, which is why I usually head to the Baccarat Bar. It’s part upscale – plush, patterned sofas and orchids – and part vintage Vegas, with the boisterous sounds of the adjoining casino occasionally punctuating the bar’s refined ambience. The real draw for me is the music; on the nights I’ve been here, a piano-playing crooner has performed jazz and classical music, offering a relaxing start to the evening. The superb, potent cocktails are a far cry from the low-grade wine and spirits often served in Vegas. The inventive drinks – try the Chocolate Nut martini – are perfect for achieving a light buzz without a hangover the following morning."
