If you’re going to splurge in New York City, do it at the Carlyle, a legendary hotel that radiates Upper East Side exclusivity – and prices. The geographically blessed hotel looms over Madison Avenue, within strolling distance of splendid art (the Frick and Whitney are just around the corner), a slew of posh boutiques, and the lush expanse of Central Park. Location, location, location – oh, and lots of famous guests – places the Carlyle firmly in the top tier of celebrated buildings, which is saying a lot in Manhattan. Every American President since Truman, along with royalty from throughout Europe, has paid a visit. And it was here that Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Audrey Hepburn met by chance and settled in for a long chat. From the lavishly appointed suites down to the impeccable service – white-gloved porters gallantly escort guests to their rooms – the Carlyle offers the ultimate luxury Manhattan experience

Jeffy Jeff's rating:

"The Carlyle is the only place I’ll consider staying in Manhattan. It’s one of the very few truly grand luxury hotels in the city. From the Mark Hampton decor to the impeccable room service and amenities, I just can’t imagine anyplace more comfortable, stylish and relaxing. It seems like so many of the other New York hotels are trying to “out-bling” each other, or feng shui/mid-century modern “hip” you to death. The Carlyle reminds me of staying at a friends house in Greenwich, but with all of the excitement and energy of New York right outside your door!"
