Resurrected in 1931, the current incarnation of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel is an art deco beacon to high rollers from around the world. The moment you step through the doors, you may feel as though you have rediscovered a level of elegance that belongs to another time. Fine art deco adornments highlight every vestibule in the hotel, and peerless pieces of art, jewelry, and clothing are displayed throughout. In the morning, as the sun creeps into your room and reflects off the French doors in your opulent parlor, you can take in a view of Park Avenue before heading down to Oscar’s for a continental breakfast. On your way out of the hotel make sure you take a minute to wind your way up the staircase to the Cocktail Terrace. Even if you don’t need a drink, it will give you a magnificent view of the lobby.

Luxuries at the Waldorf

While enjoying a bit of R&R at the Waldorf Astoria, you might find it quite impossible to leave. You can spend your days immersed in the pleasures of deep-tissue massage and full facial and body treatments at the spa. Evenings can be spent feasting on succulent steak and seafood at the Bull and Bear, or delving into the intricacies of fine Japanese cuisine at Inagiku. If the siren song of the city does lure you away from the hotel, you will find yourself a short hike or drive from the splendors of Manhattan’s nightlife. You can take in a show, dance the night away, or tuck yourself into a corner booth and engage in the time-honored New York tradition of people-watching. Upon returning to the Waldorf, stop in for a cocktail at Sir Harry’s, but don’t forget you have a luxurious bed with the plushest pillows you’ve ever laid your head on waiting for you upstairs.

Waaaaay too expensive but still a fun stay

"Back in the summer of 1997 my Mom & Step-dad treated my family to an overnight stay at this historical hotel. Room service was “GRADE A” gourmet all the way and the rooms were decorated very fancy. I really enjoyed all the fine decor and unique furniture but I was surprised at all the extra inflated little charges. For example, the mini fridge was stocked with all kinds of goodies like a small jar of cashews, imported beers, sodas, etc. You just assume that stuff is gonna cost something but holy smokes that stuff was CRAZY overpriced. I had a fun time there but for the price I would expect a few more freebies."
