Though the swank TriBeCa Grand hardly needs a gimmick to lure guests, it has one anyway: Each guest is given a cute little goldfish for his room, upon request. Trendy downtown meets upscale chic at this happening, star-magnet hotel that looms over the heart of TriBeCa, named after Triangle Below Canal. Since the TriBeCa Grand’s much-heralded opening in 2000, it has become downtown’s de rigueur hotel for anyone who’s anyone (and their entourage) plus plenty of moneyed travelers who like some urban edge along with their Egyptian-cotton sheets, plush towels, and mini TVs in the bathrooms. The hotel’s old-fashioned brick façade belies the breathtaking, soaring atrium lobby that wows even the most jaded of New Yorkers. The only drawback is the size of the rooms, which seem dwarfed by the high-ceilinged atrium. But then again, with bustling TriBeCa beckoning just outside, you probably won’t be spending that much time inside anyway.

Horrible

remote1206's rating:

"I stayed at the Tribeca Grand on 3/29/08 for my 5th Anniversary. It was beyond atrocious. They put us on the second floor, failing to advise us that the atrium (the rooms all overlook the atrium) turns into a nightclub until the wee hours of the morning. Suffice it to say, all of the reasons why you don't want to sleep in a nightclub came true here. Even worse, after agreeing not to charge me for my room, the hotel charged my credit card anyway!!Avoid this hotel at all costs."
