This small but charming stone castle sits atop Vista Rock, which is the highest point in glorious Central Park. Built in the 1870s, the castle now houses a weather station and the Henry Luce Nature Observatory. The Observatory displays exhibits on the parks ecology. The rooftop offers spectacular views of the park, including the Great Lawn below, as well as the surrounding skyline of Midtown Manhattan. Admission is free.

Landmark with a view

komodokd's rating:

"This is one of the popular landmarks in central park. An interesting fact about the castle is that the weather is taken from here. It has all of the instruments here. It’s a great spot for people watching. Climb to the top to get a bird eye’s view of the ball fields and more. It is a very popular spot for photographers."
