A gem of urban planning, Rockefeller Center has long occupied a special position in the heart of the city – and in the hearts of New Yorkers and visitors alike. It’s home to the NBC studios – this is where all those screaming Today show fans gather – and features a slew of restaurants, offices and gorgeous rooftop gardens. As you’re walking around the city, the Center makes for a great pit-stop to refuel, with coffee and a light meal. Most importantly, they have clean public restrooms, which is a godsend if you’re exploring New York with little ones who really, really have to go. The Rockefeller Center is most magical in winter, when the Lower Plaza transforms into an ice rink. Join the crowds and zip about the ice amid the center’s looming buildings. In early December, the famed Christmas tree is lit up with much fanfare, ushering in the holiday season.
