Summary of CBGB
We are moving: CBGB’s last show is October 15th and the club will reopen in the near future. CBGB Fashions: (the CBGB store, wholesale department, and online store) will remain open at our 315 Bowery premises until October 31. On November 1, we will move to and open CBGB Fashions at Broadway and Bond Street. All phone numbers will remain the same.
New York City’s iconic punk rock club – the home of underground rock – CBGB has hosted such famed acts as Blondie, The Ramones, Talking Heads and The Police. These days, it’s making headlines for another reason: Thirty years after its birth, the beloved landmark will close in October 2006, becoming yet another victim to the condo-ization of New York. Owner Hillel Krista says he’s going relocate the place to Vegas. Until that happens, the dimly lit, grungy CBGB still draws eclectic performers and the people who dig them. Sitting on the Bowery – once a strip of pimps, prostitutes and drunks – CBGB is now the face of the new East Village, home to bohemian artists, grungsters, and students. In catering to this demographic, CBGB offers cheap drinks and little or no cover.
