Little Italy greets you with a bit of Florence and a blast of New York City. There are strings of lights everywhere, and the sounds of live music and warm hospitality can be heard in this neighborhood nestled between Houston and Canal Streets in lower Manhattan. It’s the perfect place to show visitors that New York can make you feel foreign and at home within the same few city blocks. The restaurants along Mulberry Street keep their patios open, and most of them are quaintly small and reminiscent of an Old World Italian restaurants. Mulberry offers more than three dozen places for you to have lunch or dinner, and there are also vendors along the street who can provide both the kitschy and the collectible souvenir. Cars don’t drive down the streets of Little Italy, so you can wander through the maze of restaurants and shops without worry of traffic hassles. The lack of vehicles quiets the pace down in Little Italy, and this is one piece of the city where a New York minute slows to an Italian hour.

Great Italian food

inversed's rating:

"Fun! A must visit for gelato (my wife is obsessed…) Walking down the street you are suddenly surrounded by a taste of Europe. It is not uncommon for Italian accented restaurant staff to try to lure you into their caffe or trattoria. A fun visit."
