Summary of Corner Bistro
The proudly no-frills Corner Bistro has scarred wooden booths, cheap pints, and some of the best burgers in New York City. And the kicker is that a burger can be yours for five bucks. It just doesn’t get better than that, especially if you’re hungover, and most of the local crowd slouching around the bar usually is. A longtime West Village institution, the Corner Bistro is at heart a dim, bohemian dive, and, in the staff’s words, they’d like to keep it that way. Which is fine by everyone, as long as they go right on serving up their juicy burgers, which they were doing at a clip of 600 a day at last count. You’ll find exactly nine items on the menu, including four kinds of burgers, a grilled chicken sandwich, chili, and french fries. It’s an all-meat menu, so better to leave your vegetarian friends at home – or meet up with them at a nearby bar after you’ve had your fill. On the weekends, there’s often a line, but mitigate the wait with a couple tall cold ones at the bar.
