If you thought all sandwiches were created equal, then you haven’t been to Katz’s Deli, the Lower East Side’s venerable Jewish deli, made famous by the “I’ll have what she’s having” scene – yes, that one – from _When Harry Met Sally… _(you can’t miss the table where it happened – a hanging sign marks the spot). One bite into a towering pastrami on rye or hot corned beef slathered with mustard – both come with the requisite pickle, of course – and you may feel like howling your pleasure just like Sally did. The sandwiches are that good, and that big. If you’re stuffed after eating just half, do like everyone else, and have it wrapped. After another bout of sightseeing, or a night out at the clubs, you’ll be happy for the leftovers. Wash it all down with a Katz favorite, an egg cream, a uniquely New York concoction of milk, chocolate syrup, and carbonated water.
