The Taylor House Inn is located in Banner Elk, N.C., in the historic Valle Crucis area of the Watauga River Valley. The inn is less than 12 miles from skiing at Ski Beech, the Sugar Mountain Resort and Hawksnest Ski Resort. Fishing, canoeing, kayaking, white-water rafting and swimming are available in the rivers and streams in the surrounding hills.
This restored Victorian-style farmhouse was built for the C.D. Taylor family in 1911. The inn offers views of the valley, an herb garden and gazebo. Complimentary full breakfasts, including the inn’s signature dish of poached eggs on a bed of smoked salmon, greens and English muffins with goat cheese, are served each morning. Complimentary wireless Internet access, and fax and photocopy services are available. A porch across the front of the house lined with columns is furnished with white wicker chairs and a swing. The property’s Milk House Gift Shop sells mugs, books and handmade quilts. A video library and laundry facilities are available. Pets are not allowed at the property.

The Taylor House Inn offers two suites and five guestrooms in the main house, and two small, self-contained cottages. All accommodations boast down comforters. Select rooms feature handmade quilts.
