Las Vegas
It really is DisneyWorld for adults
Yes, it really is DisneyWorld for adults. Except that, if you’re careful, it’s possible to have a relatively cheap vacation in Las Vegas. I have yet to meet anybody who left the Magic Kingdom saying “wow, that cost so much less than I expected!”
In Las Vegas, it’s possible to find a marguerita for a dollar, a shrimp cocktail or a foot-long, half-pound hot dog for ninety-nine cents, and a hotel room for as little as $36 a night.
Those whose tastes (and means) run in the other direction can find the world’s most extensive wine cellar, exotic gourmet dining, and a hotel suite big enough to deserve its own zip code.
For those in between these extremes, the choices available are dizzying.
If you don’t care to spend all of your entertainment dollars on gambling, the activities available are equally wide-ranging. You’ll find roller coasters, rock climbing, movies, art exhibits, bowling alleys, tours of the nearby Grand Canyon, concerts, plays, magicians, museums, sky-diving (both outdoor and indoor,) video arcades, the “Star Trek Experience,” more shopping choices than you probably knew existed… and so on.
The only thing it’s hard to find in Vegas is enough time to sleep.
