Atomic Testing Museum

Fun & Educational

My favorite part is the theater that recreates watching a test blast. There's this countdown until the "shockwave" reaches you, and when it does, it startles the bejesus out of you. There's a tone to the sound wave that's genuinely frightening, and you truly get the sense of how terrifying it must have been to be present for the real thing. The museum is pretty thorough in its explanations of how the tests were done.

I've read reviews that say this can be walked to from the strip, but I wouldn't try it on a hot day. You'll be better off taking the CAT bus up and back.
