Don't bother

The best reason to go in is to take advantage of the chance to sit down for a few moments and get out of Manhattan's summer heat. It's free (during summer months), roomy and comfortable. Their collection, however, is beyond bland. They have some beautiful drawings and illustrations, but the overwhelming impression you'll leave with is that Academic Art is the soul of mediocrity--the opposite of the institution's intention and reason for existing.

The store on the street level is actually more worth your time than the museum's galleries.
