Masonic Lodge No. 4
An interesting tour
My father is a Mason and I have been in many lodges, but never one this old. This was the fourth lodge established in the US and it is the Masonic Lodge that George Washington belonged to.
The tour of the Lodge took less than an hour and was very interesting. We paid about $2 a person and local woman showed us around. She told us about the history of the lodge and how it fit in with the history of Fredericksburg.
The lodge has a lot of interesting artifacts from its history. They even have the punchbowl that the Marquis de Lafayette drank from when he came to visit the lodge. They also have one of the original Gilbert Stuart portraits of Washington.
