Location. The Spencer House Bed and Breakfast is located in historic downtown Erie, Pa., three blocks from the Firefighter’s Historical Museum. In the summer, outdoor concerts take place in Perry Square and Liberty Park less than one mile away. The Erie Zoo, Waldameer Park & Water World, and Presque Isle State Park are within five miles.
Features. This three-story Victorian mansion, built in 1876, features the original woodwork, 12-foot ceilings and interior folding shutters. Complimentary full breakfasts, featuring thick Belgium waffles served with fresh blueberries, raspberries or strawberries topped with homemade whipped cream, butter and syrup, are offered each morning in the formal dining room. Coffee, tea and snacks are available throughout the day. The bed and breakfast offers a well-stocked book library, video library, guest computer station and complimentary wireless Internet access. The parlor features antiques, an elegant carved wood fireplace with the original framed mirror above the mantle which reaches to the ceiling, and a baby grand piano. The solarium in the home is furnished with white wicker furniture. A furnished front porch is also offered for guests’ use.

Guestrooms. The Spencer House Bed and Breakfast offers six guestrooms with private bathrooms and bathrobes. Select rooms offer claw-foot or jetted tubs. All accommodations are equipped with cable television, VCRs, telephones and complimentary wireless Internet access. Guestrooms are individually decorated with antiques. The President’s Suite, the former master bedroom of the bank president that lived there, offers a four-poster cherry bed and sitting area with a sofa in front of the fireplace.

Expert Tip. Presque Isle State Park, located approximately four miles away, is a pristine seven-mile peninsula jutting out into Lake Erie with 11 sandy beaches, fishing ponds, boat launches, a marina, boat rentals and boat tours. Over 15 miles of biking, hiking and cross-country ski trails wind along the Presque Isle Bay and throughout the park. The park is also home to a Coast Guard station, the Perry Monument, picnic areas and grills, and two lighthouses.
