As close as you’ll get to “Cheers,” Mc Gillin’s Old Ale House claims to hold the title for the oldest bar in Philly. The original sign (revamped in neon) greets you outside, and the interior plays host to a hodge-podge of patrons, from suits on happy hour to tipsy college kids to regulars snuggled up to the bar. Worn wood walls and cracked tile floors wear the years of love well. The food is your regular pub fare with juicy burgers, cheesy nachos and wings. Pitchers of beer go for an Abe Lincoln. They may not be served by Sam Malone, but the staff will know your name in no time.
