"When we visited the Moorish castle, it was a foggy day. This made the experience so much better. The tour of the castle is a nice relaxing walk through the castle grounds. You can walk up the old stones and look down on the city of Sintra."

"My boyfriend and I stayed in Lisbon and took a subway to Sintra. This was probably one of the best travel decisions we made that trip. The castle looms high on a hill overlooking Sintra. You take a crazy, windy bus ride up the lush green hills to eventually get to the castle. The best thing about it is that you are free to explore EVERYTHING in the castle – walk up the turrets, look over the walls, etc. It is very well preserved and really lets you imagine what it would have been like to sit in this fortress during a siege. My boyfriend is extremely well traveled and hardly anything truly impresses him. He was completely absorbed in the castle, saying it was the most amazing place he’d ever visited. If that doesn’t convince you to go, I don’t know what will."
