Biltmore Estate
Now that's wealth
After touring the Biltmore, I left wondering if this kind of wealth exists anymore. Obviously, our world has tycoons that seem to have more money than God, but when personal wealth can build this kind of palace, it seems to be of a different caliber. I was amazed to learn, for example, that in the late 1800’s, when indoor plumbing was not available to all Americans, an estate was built that housed a heated pool. And to accomplish such feats, a rail line was built to transport workers to the estate each day.
Admission is pricey but worth the cost. To make the fare more palatable, start early in the day and spend time enjoying the grounds after touring the palace.
