Disney's California Adventure--A Bug's Life

With its crowds and lines, Disneyland easily over stimulates the senses.  Searching for tranquility while visiting this theme park?  A visit to A Bug’s Land in California Adventure may provide the respite you need.

Inspired by the movie, “A Bug’s Life,” this world is designed to mimic the life of ants, caterpillars, and ladybugs.  Foliage with oversized leaves provides a new sense of scale and helps transport you into this insect world.  Rides show the ingenuity of small creatures to turn human trash into both useful and fanciful masterpieces.  Flik’s Flyers, one of the central attractions here, is designed to look like the rider is soaring in balloons made of used packaging, leaves, and twigs.

Listen closely and you hear the lullaby of A Bug’s Land.  This three part harmony begins with the rhythm of cricket sounds, piped through speakers situated at regular intervals.  Next, you hear the sounds of theme ride music.  Orchestra meets jazz meets humor as these light hearted melodies beckon children.  Harmony comes from the children’s laughter as they run through the puddle park play area or crash in bumper cars.

Breathe deep.  Soak up these noises and sights.  The human swarms can wait.
