Mary Mac's Tea Room
Great comfort food
If you’re visiting the South, you have to have some Southern food. At Mary Mac’s, you’ll find an order sheet and some pencils on your table; you check off what you want, and your server disappears with your order. For the most part, we gave up on trying to follow our heart-healthy guidelines for the day. I ordered the fried chicken and Dale had country fried steak, which he said was almost as good as what his mother made when he was a kid. We did at least get some steamed veggies as a side (although the macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy probably negated any benefits we got from the veggies). Since we were in the peach state, we split a piece of peach cobbler for dessert, then we tried to walk off a little of our lunch on a two mile trek to the Jimmy Carter Library.
