Tucked into the western corner of Rhode Island, across the Pawcatuck River from Connecticut and north of Block Island Sound, this city of 16,500, settled in 1648, encompasses several villages: Westerly, Watch Hill, Bradford, and Avondale. Beach lovers come for the many public expanses of sand between Watch Hill and Weekapaug. The Flying Horse Carousel at Watch Hill was built in 1870. Westerly is south of I-95 via US-1. Air service is available at Westerly State Airport. Bus service to Westerly is also available.
