Old Glory Bar-B-Que

Old Glory looks a bit like an old-style saloon when you walk in the front door – wooden booths line the left side of the restaurant and a massive wooden bar runs along the right side. This place is all about barbecue, and you’ll find flavors from all over, including sweet Memphis sauce, tangy Kansas City sauce and a mustard-based sauce from Savannah. The St. Louis-style spare ribs are a specialty, and the pulled pork and brisket are pretty tasty as well. Don’t skip the corn bread, which is even yummier when you add the sweet butter that comes with it. During the day, this is a great family-friendly option in Georgetown, but about 9 p.m. students from nearby Georgetown and George Washington universities start piling in, and the drinking and mingling begin. It’s always loud here, and it’s even louder on the weekends, when you’ll hear live blues.
