Fish House in Stanley Park
Fish as Fine Art
Start with a magnificent natural setting. Just driving through the rhodedendron festooned lanes to the restaurant is a treat. Then, coming upon the handsome building set in the trees, you know you are in for something quite special. Inside, we received a warm welcome and were seated immediately, even though we were a few minutes early for our reservation.
The service continued to be hospitable and efficient throughout with no rush. And this venerable (in the best sense of the word) establishment matches the food to the service and atmosphere. Try the locally harvested Sablefish pan seared to get acquainted with something as tasty as it is delicate. Or sample the Ahi Diane, tuna served rare with a peppercorn sauce. Paired with a crisp BC sauvignon blanc, these dishes--and the sampling of local oysters that preceded them--proved the Fish House to be deserving of its name. We will visit again!
