review Hotel Parlamento

Great Location, Service and Price

In April of ‘08 my wife and I took her aging mother on a 12 day trip to Rome. We scoured the travel sites looking for a hotel that satisfied our special needs but found few that did it all for us. Then we came across the Parlamento Hotel listed in one of the Frommer’s guides. We checked out their website, found some other reviews and decided to contact them. From our first emails to the day we said Arrivederci Roma, the Hotel Parlamento would prove to be the best choice we could have made and for 12 days would become our home away from home. What can we say about our friends at the Parlamento? Plenty, but most importantly, there are four things that will keep us coming back: Location, Security, Service and Price. The Parlamento is located right in the middle of historic Rome and since we were tethered to the hotel, it was of great convenience to have at least 5 top attractions within walking distance. As we ventured farther from the hotel, the public bus terminal just up the block was extremely accessible, taking us in minutes to most of the other sites we planned to see. Restaurants, bars, shopping, and grocery stores can all be found steps away from their door and when Via Del Corso closes to vehicles on Saturday afternoon, the area turns into a pedestrian party as people walk up and down enjoying cuisine and shopping from Piazza del Popolo to Emanuelle Vittorio II monument. In spite of the warnings about pickpockets and other thievery, at no point did we feel threatened during our entire stay. That said it is always comforting to know that anyone entering the hotel has to be buzzed in by intercom. And with our room located right next to the 24-hour concierge desk, we were comfortable leaving my mother-in-law in the room for a few hours so the two of us could get away. By far the most memorable part of our stay at the Parlamento was the service. Plinio Chini and his family made our stay as easy, comfortable and fun as we could have ever imagined. At any time of day or night we could find friendly, professional service right outside our door. The Romans in general were wonderful hosts and we were even more fortunate to have such courteous, personal assistance with reservations, directions and recommendations. Tiziano, Andrea, Paolo and everyone else on the team were patient, efficient, knowledgeable and just plain wonderful to have as our guides to their fantastic city. The hotel itself is well maintained, the rooms clean, the bathrooms larger than expected, the new elevator a blessing and the rooftop terrace a great place to relax and reflect on the immense amount of history that surrounds you. Hopefully our wishes cast into Trevi Fountain will come true as we can’t wait to return to Rome and our home away from home in Rome, the Hotel Parlamento!
