Hua Hin being close to Bangkok has been a firm favorite as a getaway destination for residents of Bangkok for many years. It is now also popular with visitors from all over the world. So many visitors to Bangkok also want to spend at least a few days at a beach nearby without having to fly. That is where Hua hin and the surrounding beach areas become popular. Just a couple of hours by taxi ( there are also buses, about 3 hrs or trains, about 4 hrs, or even a short 40 minute scenic flight ) make Hua Hin popular.
There are many large chain hotels and resorts including Hilton, Hyatt, Sofitel, Marriott, Sheraton, Dusit and others in the area, plus many other luxury spa resorts and beach hotels. There are also many mid priced hotels and budget accommodations, vacation rentals, guesthouses and holiday bungalows.
The town is busy with shops and night mkarket. A very large choice of excellent restaurants and a few Thai shows. Within 30 minutes are rural areas and a little further is the famous Sam Roi Yot National Park. Snorkeling is available about 2 and a half hours south of Hua Hin at Koh Talu island close to Bang Saphan.

There is a daily International Express train service originating in Bangkok that stops in Hua Hin and continues through to Butterworth ( penang ) is Malaysia. There are also express bus and bus/ferry services onweards from Hua Hin to Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui, Krabi and Phuket.
