In a couple of weeks I will be traveling to North Carolina for the holidays to visit with my boyfriend's family.

This will be the second time I will be traveling to the Morganton, North Carolina area. The first time I was there I spent some time soaking up the sun at Lake James and shopping at the near by town of Black Mountain. Actually I recall going shopping everyday at Black Mountain. 

Black Mountain is a small North Carolina town and has an excellent job in developing their historic district and the ability to cater to tourist who love to shop!  

A few store that need to mentioned is:

Black Mountain Books: 103 Cheery Street, Black Mountain, NC (Located in the Historic District). This store specializes in books on Black Mountain College, North Carolina, the Southern
Appalachians, Nature, Religion, 18th and 19th Century England and
Scotland. They also stock paperbacks and hard cover reading copies in many other categories.

The shopkeeper was very helpful and informative in helping me choose a book written by a local author for my three year old nephew.  

Cherry Street Kids: A wonderful selection of creative and educational toys.

Chocolate Gems: Their Chocolate Cover Orange peels are to die for!!!!!

Bone-A-Fide Bakery & Boutique: Need a special gift for the your special pet? This shop has a everything you need to pamper you pet, plus homemade au natural treats.

Outdoor Paths Map Store: Looking to go on a hike? Maybe a Bike ride? Or maybe you want to pick up a map of Italy. This store has it all and the shopkeepers are knowledgeable and very helpful. It's such a cool shop!

McCosh House : This was my favorite shop…could it be because of their jewelery selection? I found a fabulous glass ring and I just couldn't believe the price! Let's just say the cost of this glass cocktail ring in Chicago would run me $30. I paid 1/5 of the cost here!
