The Lodge

The Lodge

quote:

The Lodge is located on La Cienega at Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, and you should probably make your reservations right now, because by the time you finish reading this, the pricey steakhouse may be booked for several months straight. As the latest see-and-be-seen hot spot, from some of the people who brought you Geisha House and Dolce, The Lodge is attempting to banish the image of steakhouses as troughs for flannel-wearing, all-you-can-eat middle Americans to make it safe for chic, ski-bunny types who would normally be on the Atkins, South Beach or French women diet. You don’t even have to order steak; there are oyster platters, mac and cheese, seared tuna and arugula salads for those who are truly fat-and-meat-averse. Also, the side dishes (creamed spinach, potatoes) tend to be small, and the atmosphere can feel more important than the food, which focuses more on “classic favorites” with choice of sauce rather than innovative, experimental cuisine. Seating is tight and a little bit cramped (blame promotion by Michael Sutton), and wine and cocktails are quite expensive, but worth it to impress your friends, particularly those who live in a higher tax bracket.
