"We went there after a movie and were diappointed. The service was fair and the food was good. We ordered an expresso coffee and a cappucino and was told by the server that she had never seen a machine for making either. We orderd regular coffee and it was old. When we asked ofr a refill we were told there was no more coffee. It seems like a small thing, but good service and accurate menus can make a difference in a area where there are an abundance of pizza places. Not sure we'll go back."

"Too bad-- the pizza was actually rather good. After we were seated, it took our waiter 30 minutes to come by and actually take our order. Then, more than 1:30 minutes later, when our pies had still not come out, he promised there would be a discount on the bill. Finally, nearly 2 hours later, pies came out and we ate-- pretty good stuff-- we came to try it because basically no one carries whole wheat dough, but they do. Anyhow, check came and no discount, just a little "sorry" from the waiter. I asked to speak to management-- he didn't come out to the table. 20 minutes later, I tracked him down. Check was re-issued with a meager discount, and basically a sneer from management. This is customer service?!? Too bad that was the first and last time I will go there-- food was above-average, but the whole episode just left a terrible taste. Maybe order takeout, but don't expect anyone to be nice or have your food delivered in a timely manner. Definitely NOT recommended if you have a movie to see afterwards."

"Wow! I had no idea pizza could be such an experience! As soon as we entered and saw the hip, contemporary ambience, we knew this was no ordinary “pizza joint”. We started with a wonderful Italian salad with focaccia bread on the side. It’s rather hard to explain, but there’s a wrought iron stand with a “spiral” base that holds the salad bowl (enough for two), that later on in the meal is used to hold the pizza. The pizza itself is fantastic, far and away the best in the Hilton Head / Bluffton area. For dessert we had the Cannoli, which is to die for (I know you hear that all the time, but in this case it really is true). The presentation of each dish is impeccable (more what you’d expect from a fine dining restaurant), the service is polished and professional. Weather permitting, at certain times, The Headliners, a popular local band perform outside the establishment. Berkeley Place, where Paulie’s is located, is a cleverly conceived “town square” type development. There are numerous shops and boutiques, as well as the Sea Turtle Cinemas movie theatre complex, which is totally state of the art. Paulie’s is the perfect “dinner and a movie” date destination. It’s well worth the trip from Hilton Head!"
