"These Asian art treasures were removed from mainland China for protection. Now that Taiwan is independent from China (depends whom you ask) they are still off the mainland. They have so many treaures they cannot and will never show them at one time. The vaults for the musuem are carved deep in the mountains that surround the museum. The collection is rotated every so often. If you have never seen carved jade tofu…. you haven’t lived. Seriously, you can retrace the steps of chinese history through the artwork that is represented. Traveling to Taipei without stopping here would be a waste of your airmiles."
