Memphis has been made famous by two things: barbecue and blues. But the best kept secret in this town is Blues City Café. Taking up two old storefronts on Beale Street, Blues City Café has the blues wailing on one side and the barbecue on the other. This joint’s a dive that has locals mingling with tourists over sultry music and smoky meats. With a kitchen that serves up some of the tastiest ribs known to man, Blues City has been dubbed “The Best Meal on Beale.” Enjoy those ribs with a cold beer and some of the best live music in Memphis. Even the jukebox at Blues City has soul (no Journey offered here); it’s filled with old 45s by legends like Bill Withers and B.B. King (whose own joint is right across the street), as well as some local bands that rival their more famous counterparts. Blue’s City Café is the place to come for the real deal in Memphis.
