Important Hotel Information:

This beaux-arts beauty, built in 1910, oozes traditional Southern charm and is the prestige address in town. Both the service and the architecture hearken back to a time when staying in a fine hotel meant being treated like royalty. The architectural heritage wows even well traveled guests: The lobby contains Tiffany skylights, marble columns and alabaster chandeliers, for starters. The rooms are the best in Tennessee, with an average size of 475 square feet. Expect traditional finery in the furnishings, as well as nice touches such as DVD players, double marble vanities, and Molton Brown toiletries. The Hermitage is right beside the capitol and the performing arts center, the fanciest downtown restaurant is on the ground floor and it’s an easy walk to and from Lower Broadway. The guestbook has been graced by six presidents, Oprah, Steven Spielberg and most of history’s country music stars. The downside? No pool.

Beautiful classy hotel

Reviewed by injeanious on December 19, 2006

injeanious' rating:

"One of the nicest hotels I’ve been to. Beautiful upscale and fabulous service. Everyone was so nice and helpful. A hotel similar to this in NYC near where I live would easily be twice to triple the price. Lobby is incredible and the rooms are spacious and expensive furniture, relaxing bathrooms."

Finery in a Friendly Town

Reviewed by BBayne on December 09, 2006

BBayne's rating:

"Nashville doesn’t just extend its welcome, it lives up to it when you get there. Hospitality and heart are on display, from the helpful folks in the tourist trade to the free music spots on Broadway. To experience this Southern charm in high style, spend a spell at the historic Hermitage. As the sole luxury hotel in downtown Nashville, The Hermitage is a Beaux Arts palace with an amiable staff. It has hosted celeb weddings of the political, the musical, and the city’s NFL Titans. Last time I visited, I saw disco diva Donna Summer waiting to attend a wedding reception. Most U.S. presidents from Wilson to Kennedy stayed here, and pool sharp Minnesota Fats lived at the hotel, where he had a billiards table on the mezzanine level. The place was renovated in 2002, and what a job they have done. Never have I seen such vivid carpet colors as those in the foyer. Dining in the Capitol Grille is a scene from a vintage movie. The Oak Bar is wonderfully appointed as well. Extra touches include the quaint tradition of afternoon tea. There is limo service available to The Grand Ole Opry and other must-do’s. One can walk to the stately city library, cafes, and the Gaylord Entertainment and sports Center, as well as the friendly bars and coutry music stores of Second Avenue. This is where Robin Leach meets rockabilly, for sure!"
