Summary of Springwater Supper Club
The name may inspire thoughts of elegance, but Springwater Supper Club is a dive bar through and through, complete with $1.25 PBRs during happy hour and walls covered with posters that were hung before some of the patrons were born. Legend has it the building was a speakeasy in the 1920s, but now it’s a two-room, roadhouse-style shack adjoining Centennial Park. One room contains the bar, pool table, and a jukebox, while the other hosts an eclectic range of obscure rock bands that are rarely known outside their immediate families. Unlike the interior, which looks and smells the same as it did 20 years ago, a patio with picnic tables offers some fresh air. If you’re looking for a bar where scuffy clothes are the standard and attitude is left at the door, Springwater is about as far from “pretentious” as you can get — especially in the prime West End Avenue area.
