Summary of Oslo
Austin’s large population of college students and artists can make its bar scene a zoo. But beyond the bustling joints on Fourth and Fifth streets lies Oslo, a bastion of cool sophistication and Nordic serenity. The space is long and narrow, with ‘60s-inspired appointments, and the swanky black-and-white dens are separated into three sections by hanging silver beads. The sound system channels a sexy selection of down-temp beats, making this an ideal spot for a quiet drink most nights (week-ends can get a little hectic). The crowd is a bit more grown-up than in most of the neighboring nightspots, and the affable bartenders mix creative cocktails such as the Inga-aquavit, banana liqueur, and 7-Up. Not that all of the sophistication gets in the way of having: The chocolate fondue, served with apple slices and animal crackers, can make anyone feel like an eight-year-old again – - Conde Nast Traveler
