Per classic Texas requisites, the Westin City Center hotel is large. The atrium alone is 15 stories high, and connected to shops, restaurants and a year-round ice skating rink. The lobby is a model of tasteful restraint, however, with clean-lined chairs, tables and columns in grey and sand tones. Views from the guest rooms are spectacular; you’re overlooking the city’s concrete jungle of a financial district. Low-slung chairs and a curved-top armoire provide a home-like feel, as do the bright woods and well-lit interiors. When you step into the Westin City Center’s darkly elegant 650 North and take a seat in a jewel-toned chair, you’ll feel like you’re in a New York City chophouse. If fine dining ambiance isn’t what you’re after, have a drink at the bar instead.
