It seems as though Fort Worth, Texas is always seen as a companion to Dallas, but this growing city has its own unique flavor. While some of the activities available in Fort Worth could be seen as typically Southern, there are those that defy stereotypes. Six world-class museums may inspire you to rethink your perceptions of the city. More than a million visitors each year make their way to the beautifully diverse Cultural District near the heart of Fort Worth. The District is home to six museums – the Cowgirl, Cattle Raisers, Amon Carter, Science and History, Modern Art, or Kimbell Art – and you’ll want to spend some time wandering through this area.
Taking in a rodeo should also be on your to-do list. Throw on your cowboy hat and watch the experts saddle up. One of the rodeos you can catch here is the Cowboys of Color Rodeo, which features black, Hispanic and American Indian cowboys. Fort Worth is also home to the National Cowboys of Color Museum, which honors those who helped settle the West. You should also be sure to visit the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, which features unique restaurants, nightlife, lodging, shopping and entertainment. Designated as a national historic landmark in 1976, it is considered one of the most popular tourist attractions in Texas today.
