Nice but not spectacular

"Went here for an anniversary dinner. This restaurant used to be on the top floor of a downtown office building and had fantastic views. Unfortunatley, that was the building hit by the tornado several years ago, so this is the new location. While the views are gone, the setting is roughly the same. Lots of private party areas, and a overwhelming "western" flair. Tasteful and not too overbearing, with a leather smell in the air from all the saddles and furniture! Service was fair, and the food was okay. We spent about $100 for two people with an appetizer, couple of glasses of house merlot and two meals. I wouldn't call it spectacular, but it wasn't terrible. We had fried calamari for a starter. The sauce was nice and spicy. I had the chicken fried steak and my partner had a tenderloin. The chicken fried steak was HUGE, so big it hid my mashed potatos and green beans underneath. It all tasted very good, but nothing out of the ordinary or mind blowing. Would I come back here for a special occasion? Maybe not, but it would be a good place to take an out-of-town visitor if you wanted to impress. All in all not a bad experience, just didn't knock my socks off."

Wonderfull Experience

"We went with a party of six. The service was incredible as was the food. Great atmosphere for upscale dinning. Our party was seated in one of the private rooms off the main dinning area it was a great experience. We all started with the onion rings.......if you don't order them you are missing something. They are covered with a perfectly blended and textured coating. Make sure you try the special sauce, actually it is a kicked up Ketchup but it is unbelievable. The onion rings were followed by several different salads all fresh with great flavor. I had the mixed greens salad a combination of several flavors perfectly blended. Others in our party had the Cesar salad and once again they raved over the presentation and flavor. The special of the evening was a rib-eye steak with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. Four of the six in our party ordered this and found it to be unbelievable in every way. The steak was cooked to perfection and the potatoes were excellent. The beans were also very fresh and tasty. I ordered the pepper crusted fillet and I will order it again as soon as I return. This steak may have been the best I have ever eaten. Once again done to perfection and crusted just right. I also had the garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. I was not disappointed. We finished the dinner with an assortment of deserts. Every one was a masterpiece. Make sure you save some room desert is as good as the main meal. I also ordered a cup of coffee which was also very good. I would highly recommend the Reata for a very enjoyable evening filled with great service and outstanding food."
