Galveston

A long drive with not a lot to show for it
"We drove down to Galveston from Houston and it was terrible. The water was warm, we could not find a hotel room close to the beach, and all the decent restaurants had at least an hour wait. I was very dissapointed and will not go back for years to come. The best part of the trip was the free bread at Gaido's restaurant!!!!!

I love Galveston, TX
"What I like about Galveston is vacation ! It is a wonderful place to spend a couple days on the beach! Suntan, relax , enjoy! Seafood is best in there! Plus try okra! You'll enjoy for sure!

"not the prettiest beach i've ever seen, but is different with the seawall - Moody gardens & schlitterbahn are way overpriced...stick to the sand (it definitely sticks to you)

Galveston Revisted
"I recently visited Galveston after having not been there since i was eleven years old.The city seemed just as beautiful as ever with all it's historic buildings. The thing that bothered me was the beach. It was so crowded that i could not enjoy it.Plus,i had to pay five dollars to get into the beach! It was a major disappointment.

Galveston Island, TX
"A lot of people don't like Galveston Island because the water is murky and the beach is dirty. We went around Easter this year and it really wasn't that bad. The water is a bit murky but we are talking about the coast of Texas. We stayed at Casa del Mar Beachfront Suites. They are pretty nice to stay in. We were rarely in our suite but it had a kitchenette and nice view from the balcony of the ocean. We went to the Rainforest Cafe and it was a lot of fun. All in all it was a nice vacation and I look forward to returning to Galveston. There are lots of places to shop and eat all along Seawall Blvd. I wanted to take our dogs but it's hard to find a hotel that will allow pets for a reasonable rate.

Review: Vacation to Galveston Island,TX
"For Thanksgiving 2006, My In-laws rented a condo on the beach on Galveston Island. It was so beautiful; the beach was private and clean. We walked the beaches, looked for crabs, and fed the seagulls. If you go to Galveston for a vacation, I strongly recommend renting a private condo. You can get 1 with like 4-6 bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and plenty of room to feel comfortable. We had 9 adults & 4 kids in our condo, and I felt completely comfortable. There are several places to get your little vacation trinkets and a really smelly, but great place right on the water in the Harbor to get really fresh fish. This was a great vacation that I would do again or even with just my husband & I and go to a Hotel.
